User Guide
Everything you need to get started, set up your first track, and make the most of MyAccountability.coach.
1. Getting Started
Setup takes about 5 minutes. Here's exactly what to do:
1Create your account
Go to
myaccountability.coach/signup. Enter your name, email, phone number, and select your plan. Check the SMS consent box — this is required because the entire service is delivered via text message.
2Complete payment
After creating your account, you'll be redirected to Stripe to set up your subscription. All plans include a 14-day free trial. If you have a coupon code, enter it on the payment page.
3Create your first track
Log in and click "My Tracks." Choose a template (Spiritual Disciplines, Personal Productivity, or Independently Successful) or start from scratch. Add 3-7 daily questions, pick your sprint length (21, 45, or 90 days), and set your start date.
4Add your accountability partner (optional but powerful)
Go to "My Partner" and add someone you trust — a friend, spouse, coach, or mentor. They'll receive a daily summary of your check-in results via text or email. You can change your partner anytime.
5Wait for your first text
On your start date, you'll receive your first daily check-in text at the time you selected. Reply with your answers and you're off and running!
Pro tip: Set your start date to tomorrow, not "next Monday." The best time to start is now.
2. Creating Your First Track
A "track" is your accountability sprint — a set of daily questions delivered over a fixed number of days.
Choosing a template vs. custom
Templates give you a starting point with pre-written questions. You can edit every question, add new ones, or delete ones that don't fit. If none of the templates match your goals, choose "Start from scratch" and write your own.
Sprint lengths
- 21 days (Foundation): Perfect for building a new habit. Based on habit formation science.
- 45 days (Builder): Reinforces the habit and goes deeper. Recommended after completing a 21-day sprint.
- 90 days (Achiever): Full lifestyle integration. Transforms a habit into an identity.
How many questions?
We recommend 5 questions. Minimum 3, maximum 7. More than 7 makes the daily text too long and reduces response rates. Each question should be answerable in under 10 seconds.
Setting check-in times
You can set a morning and evening check-in time. Most users prefer a morning check-in between 7-9am. The time is based on the timezone you selected during signup.
3. Your Daily Check-In
Every day at your chosen time, you'll receive a text message like this:
Good morning, Maria! 🌟 Day 8 of 21 — Spiritual Disciplines.
1. Did you spend 30 min with the Lord? (Y/N)
2. Which verse did you memorize? (open)
3. Who did you pray for? (open)
4. What did God say to you? (open)
5. Which fruit of the spirit today? (open)
Reply with answers in order.
How to reply
Reply with your answers separated by spaces, in order. For example:
Y Romans8:28 MyMom BeKind Patience
After you reply, you'll get a confirmation message with your completion percentage and encouragement.
Important: Answer in the same order as the questions. The system matches your answers to questions by position.
4. Answer Types Explained
When creating questions, you choose an answer type for each one:
Yes / No
Reply with Y or N. Best for: "Did I do the thing?" questions. Example: "Did I exercise today?"
Scale / Grade
Reply with a number (1-10) or letter grade (A-F). Best for: effort ratings, energy levels, satisfaction scores. Example: "Rate my effort today?"
Percentage
Reply with a number from 0-100. Best for: completion tracking. Example: "What % of my tasks did I complete?"
Free Text
Reply with any word or phrase. Best for: reflective questions, open-ended responses. Example: "What was my biggest win today?"
Multiple Choice
Reply with a letter (A, B, C, D). Best for: predefined options. Example: "My energy level was: A) High B) Medium C) Low D) Exhausted"
4b. Running More Than One Sprint
You can run several sprints at once — a faith track and a fitness track, or separate sprints for different areas of your life. A few things to know so the texts stay manageable.
Each sprint has its own check-in times
When you create a sprint you choose a morning and an evening time. Those belong to that sprint alone. You can change them any time from your dashboard — click ⏰ Times on the sprint and save.
Space your sprints at least 2 hours apart. If two sprints share a check-in time, both texts arrive together and it is hard to answer either one properly.
Example: two personal sprints
Say you are running a Spiritual Disciplines sprint and a Fitness sprint. Set them like this:
| Sprint | Morning | Evening |
| Spiritual Disciplines | 7:00 AM | 8:00 PM |
| Fitness | 10:00 AM | 6:00 PM |
Three hours between the morning texts, two between the evening ones. Each arrives with room to answer before the next.
How we know which sprint you are answering
Every check-in text names its sprint in the first line — "Day 4 of 21 — Spiritual Disciplines." When you reply, your answers are recorded against the sprint that texted you most recently.
So reply to each text as it arrives. If you wait until a second sprint has texted you, your answer goes to that newer one instead.
Not sure where an answer landed? Your dashboard's Recent Check-ins table shows the sprint name and the time for every check-in.
Example: a coach with clients
If you are on the Coach or Manager plan, each client has their own account, their own sprints, and their own check-in times. Their texts go to them, not to you.
You receive a summary of their results in your partner dashboard. You are not in their reply thread, so there is nothing to answer and no risk of crossing wires between clients.
When you set up questions for a client, pick a time that suits their day. If a client is running more than one of your sprints, apply the same 2-hour rule to their times.
Pausing instead of deleting
If one sprint is too much right now, click ⏸ Pause on your dashboard. Texts stop for that sprint only; your streak and history stay intact and you can resume any time.
5. Adding an Accountability Partner
Your accountability partner is the person who receives a daily summary of your check-in results. This is the feature that makes MyAccountability.coach different from every other habit tracker.
Who should be your partner?
Choose someone who cares about your growth and will actually look at the summaries. Good choices: a spouse, close friend, mentor, coach, pastor, or family member. The key is that they're someone whose opinion you value.
What your partner sees
After each check-in, your partner receives a message like: "Ted just completed today's check-in! 4/5 yes answers (80%). Spirit word: Grateful." They see your completion rate, not your individual answers to open-ended questions.
Changing or removing your partner
Go to "My Partner" in the dashboard anytime to change your partner's info, switch notification method (SMS or email), or remove them entirely.
6. Your Dashboard
Your dashboard shows everything about your accountability journey:
- Current Streak: How many consecutive days you've checked in
- Longest Streak: Your personal best
- Total Points: Earned from check-ins (10-30 points per day based on completion)
- Sprint Progress: What day you're on and your overall completion percentage
- Recent Check-ins: History of your daily responses with completion rates
- Badges: Visual achievements you've unlocked
7. Streaks, Badges & Rewards
Points
Every check-in earns points: 10 points base, 20 points for 80%+ completion, 30 points for 100% completion.
Badges
Badges are earned at milestones: First Step (Day 1), Week One (Day 7), 21-Day Overcomer, 45-Day Builder, 90-Day Champion, Perfect Week, Streak Master, and more.
Gift Tiers
Complete full sprints to unlock real physical rewards at three tiers: Foundation (21 days), Builder (45 days), and Achiever (90 days). Each tier offers both a faith-based and secular gift option.
8. Goal Achievement Engine (Add-On)
The Goal Achievement Engine is an optional add-on ($9-29/mo depending on your plan) that adds structured goal tracking on top of daily accountability.
How it works
- Choose a methodology framework (SMART Goals, OKRs, 90-Day Sprint, Habit Stacking, Scripture-Based, or Custom)
- Create a project with a target date
- Break it into objectives (up to 5)
- Under each objective, add specific goals (up to 5 each)
- Track completion visually on your Goal Dashboard
SMART Goals
When you choose the SMART framework, each goal gets guided fields: Specific (what exactly?), Measurable (how will you know?), Achievable (is it realistic?), Relevant (does it matter?), and Time-bound (by when?).
9. For Coaches & Group Leaders
Coach and Manager plan subscribers get additional features:
Campaign Scheduling
Create group campaigns with custom questions, assign specific members, set a future launch date, and set per-campaign send times. The system auto-activates campaigns on the launch date.
Partner Dashboard
See your entire group's progress in one view: who checked in today, average streaks, intervention flags for members who are falling behind, and CSV export for reporting.
Custom Sender Name
In Settings, set your own brand name as the sender so your clients see YOUR name on their daily texts, not "MyAccountability.coach."
Intervention Alerts
The system automatically flags members who drop below 50% completion for 3+ consecutive days so you can reach out before they disengage completely.
10. Account Settings
In Settings you can update:
- Name and phone number — if you change your phone, update it here so daily texts go to the right number
- Language — English or Spanish (more coming soon)
- Timezone — controls when your daily texts arrive
- Sender Name — coaches can set their own brand name
- Subscription — view your current plan and manage billing through Stripe
- Pause Texts — temporarily stop daily messages without canceling
- Delete Account — permanently remove all your data
11. Current Limitations
MyAccountability.coach is continuously improving. Here are current limitations to be aware of:
- SMS only: Check-ins are delivered via text message. There is no mobile app at this time.
- US phone numbers only: Currently supports US-based phone numbers. International support is planned.
- 7 questions max per track: Keeps daily texts manageable. If you need more, create multiple tracks.
- 5 objectives max per project: In the Goal Achievement Engine. Keeps focus sharp.
- No calendar integration: Planned for a future release.
- No image/media in texts: Check-ins are text-only.
- One active track at a time: Complete or pause a track before starting a new one.
- English and Spanish only: Additional languages planned.
12. Troubleshooting
I'm not receiving my daily texts
- Check that your phone number is correct in Settings
- Make sure you have an active track with a start date of today or earlier
- Check that you haven't accidentally replied STOP to a previous message
- Verify your phone isn't blocking unknown numbers
My answers aren't being recorded correctly
- Reply with answers in the same order as the questions
- Separate each answer with a space
- For Yes/No, use Y or N (not "yes" or "no")
- For free text answers, keep them to one word if possible
I want to change my questions mid-sprint
Go to "My Questions" in the dashboard. Edit any question and save. Changes take effect on your next daily text.
